Powers and responsibilities
(1) Control, supervise, direct and recommend measures, criteria and methods for the conservation and development of public water resources.
(2) Promote the participation of the public, local government organizations and the people, and develop and strengthen the knowledge of water user networks at the local level.
(3) Study, analyze and develop work on the conservation, restoration and development of water resources to support operations at the local level.
(4) Develop, conserve, restore, and improve water sources and water distribution systems at the local level.
(5) Analyze the quantity and quality of water; develop and test materials and equipment for the development and management of water resources at the local level.
(6) Supervise and monitor the allocation and use of public water resources at the local level in accordance with the relevant laws.
(7) Survey and collect water data, serving as a data and information network center for water resource management at the local level.
(8) Carry out monitoring, prevention, mitigation and resolution of water crisis problems.
(9) Promote, support and provide technical advice, standards and regulations on water resource management to government agencies and local administrative organizations.
(10) Work with or support the work of other relevant agencies or as assigned by the Director-General.

The internal work is divided into 9 main sections as follows:
(1) Administrative Division They have a responsibility.
1) Administrative and clerical work.

4) Analyze, provide opinions, and offer legal advice on rules, regulations, orders, and announcements to support operations.
5) Provide information services related to information systems and disseminate relevant information and news.
6) Coordinate various government affairs that are not directly the responsibility of other departments.

(2) Survey and Design Section They have a responsibility.
1) Survey the topography, water sources, and reserves of construction materials.
2) Analyze the feasibility and plan water resource development projects.
3) To provide technical support in material analysis and testing, soil drilling and exploration, and the survey and development of surface water sources for water resource development and management in the responsible area.
4) Carry out design and calculation work in engineering and architecture, water resource development, water distribution systems, and other civil engineering works; contract surveying, design, quantity surveying and cost estimation for construction projects; and specify details of materials and equipment.
5) Collaborate with or support the work of other relevant or assigned agencies.
(3) Water Source Development and Restoration Division They have a responsibility.
1) Develop, conserve, and restore water resources; prevent and mitigate water-related disasters; and improve the efficiency of water resources.
2) Control and implement water resource development projects, flood prevention and mitigation projects, water resource efficiency improvement projects, royal initiative projects, and other projects as assigned by the Department.
3) Monitor and evaluate the performance of water resource development projects during the project preparation and construction phases to ensure they proceed according to plan.

(4) Water source maintenance section They have a responsibility.
1) Create a register of water sources in the responsible area.
2) Prepare a maintenance plan for registered water sources.
3) Survey, improve, repair, maintain, control, and supervise water resource projects.

(5) Water Resource Conservation Division They have a responsibility.
1) To control, supervise, regulate, and recommend measures, principles, and methods for the conservation and development of public water resources.
2) Monitoring, controlling, supervising, maintaining, surveying, defining boundaries of public water resources, and the use and conservation of natural water sources.
3) Support and promote participation, develop knowledge, disseminate information, and strengthen management networks for the conservation, restoration, and management of water resources.
4) Establish, register, and compile a database of water users and water resource management networks.

(6) Water allocation section They have a responsibility.
1) To study, analyze, and promote concessions for water supply operations, and to inspect, control, and supervise them to ensure compliance with the law.
2) To study, analyze, and promote matters related to water usage permits and water fee collection, and to inspect, control, and supervise compliance with the law.
3) To provide support, advice, and technical guidance on water use and management for domestic and consumption water to government agencies, local administrative organizations, and the public, including the implementation of royal initiative projects and royal projects.

(7) Hydrology Section They have a responsibility.

4) Monitor, analyze, forecast, and assess the water situation, and integrate data to support water balance and allocation.
5) To provide consultation, advice, dissemination, and transfer of knowledge in hydrology to agencies and the public in the responsible area.

(8) Mechanical parts They have a responsibility.
1) Control, inspect, advise, plan operations, repair, modify, and maintain machinery, machine tools, equipment, pumps, vehicles, electrical systems, plumbing, and communication equipment.
2) Provide support for water management in both normal and crisis situations.

(9) Strategic and Action Plan Section They have a responsibility.
1) Study, analyze, and compile project plans; prepare operational plans and budgets.
2) Monitor, analyze, and evaluate to ensure compliance with the department's operational plan.
3) Integrate plans and strategies with the river basin committee, the provincial water resources subcommittee, the province, and relevant government agencies.
